The light is back, and so am I
|
|
Summer finally found us up here.
If you've never waited out a Swedish winter, I can't quite explain what the first warm week does to a person. The light comes back and stays late, the trees remember how to be green, and I drag my notebook outside like it owes me money.
That's where I've been. Writing in the garden, reading on a blanket, getting sunburnt in exactly one stripe because I forgot the backs of my knees exist. Dustling is growing in the good light. So am I.
I also made my summer TBR, and I'm starting it the way I want to start everything: with indie authors. Two of them, actually.

Eclipse of the Mortal Realm
C.J. Saint · Crone of White Flame #1 · 4.61★ on Goodreads
A cracking Veil, a demon sorcerer, and a witch everyone underestimates. I always root for the underestimated ones, so this one jumped the queue.

|
Wings
Natalie Horner · The Revelation's Prophecy #1 · 4.47★ on Goodreads
Angels, demons, a Guardian Angel, and feelings that are absolutely not allowed. Reader, of course I picked it up.

I love this part more than almost anything. The big books will always find their readers. The indie ones find you because someone leaned over and said you have to read this. So consider this me, leaning over. And if their names are new to you, that's the whole point.
Now your turn, because I read every reply: what's on your summer TBR? And tell me one indie author I'd be lucky to find. I'm building the list, and yours belongs on it.

Write with me this week
Remember Wings, up in my TBR? Here's the lovely part: this week I'm going live on TikTok for a writing sprint with Natalie Horner herself. We'll set a timer and write in good company. Bring whatever you're working on, or just come hang out.
I'll send the exact day and time to my author buddies before we start. Not on that list, or just want a nudge for the writing-related things? Reply to this email with 'author buddy' and I'll add you.

For Fellow Authors
While the spring rain kept me inside, I built two little tools. They're free, and they live in your Vault.

For your characters
The Character Sheet builder
The same template I use to keep my own cast straight. Fill it in, drag the pieces into the order you like, add a face, and export a clean PDF. Nothing saved, nothing sent. It is just yours.

For your world
The Location Sheet builder
For the places. The senses, the geography, the history nobody else knows yet. Same clean export, same promise: nothing ever leaves your screen.

The story behind the story
The pendant, the blue, and the book
There's a stone from my family's farm, blue and old, that found its way into Dustling. The grief, the escape, and why that particular blue runs through the whole story.

Wondering how to get one? They're handmade in tiny batches and given away over the summer. More on that soon.

Coming this summer
A few things are brewing: schmiveaways, pendant giveaways, and a little more I'm not ready to spoil yet.

Dustling
Dustling is deep in its first draft, and there's now a live progress bar on the book page so you can watch it crawl toward the end right alongside me. No pressure. (Okay, a little pressure.)

Dustling · The Prologue
Want to see where it all begins? The first draft of my prologue is up. It's raw, it's a little messy, and it's yours to read.

That's me for now, off to chase the last of this Sunday before the midnight sun takes over. Thank you for being here, truly. If we haven't properly met, there's a little more about me.
xx Eve
P.S. Truly, hit reply and tell me your summer TBR. I read every single one.
